FAQs

Got questions? We’ve got (lots of) answers!

Whether you're an eco-curious individual or an office manager with a closet full of cables, this FAQ covers everything you need to know about how TechBack works, what we take, and why we do what we do. If you have a questions, chances are it’s been asked before!

  • TechBack is a modern, New York State DEC Certified Electronics Recycler that makes it easy to responsibly recycle your old tech for free. Our Accessible Recycling promise means we handle everything from pick-up to drop-off including the premium data destruction necessary to keep devices secure from cradle to grave. For every item recycled, we plant a tree. Simple as that.

  • Because it’s easy, transparent, and actually does some good. Our NYS DEC certification, R2 Certified Recycling Partners & Zero Landfill Promise ensure every item we collect gets responsibly handled, and every device we recycle plants a tree through our TechbackGiveback program. You’re decluttering and helping the planet in one move.

  • No catch! We believe doing the right thing for the planet shouldn't cost extra and that’s the heart of our Accessible Recycling promise. We work to keep recycling electronics with TechBack free for consumers and businesses big and small. Giving everyone access to the secure data destruction necessary to safely recycle in today’s world. Specialized services (rush/long-distance pickups, audit-grade data destruction, etc.) have a fee, but we’ll always let you know in advance and build a simple custom solution based on your needs.

  • Our headquarters are based in East Syracuse, NY at 6464 Riding Road. We currently offer Free Business Pick-Ups in Syracuse (more areas coming soon!) and accept Free Drop-Offs in our easy-access bins from Tuesday-Friday from 9am-2pm and Saturday from 11am-2pm.

  • Our Free Pick-Up service model is currently centered around the Syracuse NY area but we regularly serve business clients in NYC and beyond for a small fee. We also partner with businesses beyond the tri-state area for bulk pickups and nationwide processing.

We are working to expand our free pick-up services across the Finger Lakes region with services in Ithaca, Utica & Rochester, and will have dedicated pick-up days coming soon, so don’t hesitate to reach out and ask!

  • In short, all of them! Because these days every industry relies on secure electronics in some way. Our HIPPA compliant, state-of-the-art data destruction handles sensitive information with the care it deserves, ensuring it’s completely destroyed and never recoverable. Our clients come from all backgrounds: tech, education, healthcare, finance, accounting, legal, and food service to name a few.

  • Yes, and we love them. TechBack was built to make top-tier recycling and secure data destruction accessible to everyone no matter their size and it’s a big part of who we are. Note: If you have a very small amount of electronics we may ask that you drop them off yourself.

  • Huge! One of our regular clients in a fortune 500 company and you don’t get much bigger than that. We are equipped to meet the unique needs and secure data of a larger company, our business model is just built not to exclude the smaller ones too.

  • We would love that! Our always-free drop-off bins have no limits and are available Tuesday-Friday from 9am-2pm and Saturday from 11am-2pm. If you are a business with data destruction needs, reach out ahead of time here and let us know, we can assist you in our lobby.

  • Of course! Our Hassle-Free Pick-Ups make your old tech disappear: we show up, we pack it up, we recycle it.  And it’s currently free to businesses in Syracuse with a small mileage fee from there. Fill our out pick-up request form and we’ll be in touch!

  • We’d love to hear from you. We’re a small team with big heart and we’re here to make recycling as easy as we can. Email us at info@techback.co and we’ll get back to you with the answers you need.

General Questions

  • Almost anything with a plug! Computers, laptops, tablets, phones, printers, AV equipment, wires, and so much more. See our full list of Accepted Items >

At this time we legally can’t accept loose batteries, TV’s, large household appliances (including microwaves) or items containing freon (like AC’s, fridges, or dehumidifiers) Those items require special processing that we are not equipped to handle. See our list of Unaccepted Items >

  • At this time we legally can’t accept loose batteries, lightbulbs (even LED), TV’s, large household appliances (including microwaves) or items containing freon (like AC’s, fridges, or dehumidifiers) Those items require special processing that we are not equipped to handle. See our list of Unaccepted Items >

But we want to help you how we can:
Resources on how to recycle batteries >
Resources on how to recycle lightbulbs >
Resources on how to recycle appliances >
Best Buy currently accepts TVs! Find a location >

  • Unfortunately these all contain highly toxic materials and are regulated differently than regular electronics. They don’t fall into our free recycling model as we would need to pay a specialized facility to safely dispose of them. Instead of paying us, we recommend using the free resources available to safely dispose of these items:

  • Of course! If it’s HIPAA-cleared and non-hazardous (no mercury, freon or liquids) we are happy to help you safely retire them. Reach out and we’ll help you assess what’s eligible.

  •  Yes. Whether it works or not, we’ll evaluate if it can be reused or responsibly dismantled.

  • Even better! We prioritize reuse and can safely clean, debrand, and give your equipment a second life. The working items we receive help power our TechbackGiveback program and we do our best to find them a safe home.

  • Just ask. We’ll let you know quickly, and work to help you find the right place if it’s not us.

What We Accept

  • Nope! Stop by any time Tuesday-Friday from 9am-2pm and Saturday from 11am-2pm and follow signs to the back of our building. There will be two dedicated parking spots next to our easy access bins. If you need assistance, come to our lobby and we’ll be happy to help.

  • Every item we receive is responsibly recycled with R2-Certified Partners (the highest standard in electronics recycling) or securely wiped and reused. Nothing recyclable ends up in a landfill, ever.

  • Great question! We take data really seriously and follow the strictest security protocols:  If it holds data, we destroy it. That means full data wiping or physical destruction even if it’s “already broken”. Fortune 500 company trust us with their secure data and your items will get the same level of care.  You can rest easy knowing your secrets are safe (and then gone forever).

  • No need, whether you do or not we will do it again! We take data security seriously and have professionals that make sure all tech is free of personal information whether the item works or not.

  • No limit, no charge. Bring it on.

  • It happens! We recommend making more than one trip; it’s the best option for the planet. It’s rare but you may qualify for a free pick-up based on quantity or location. Fill out our pick-up request form and make sure to write “home pick-up” in the “anything else?” field. And double check that what you have is actually recyclable here>

  • We’re into it. We specialize in bulk pickups and asset management for businesses. Fill out our Pick-Up Request Form and we’ll customize a plan that works for you.

  • Please do. We love a good mystery tangle. Even if you’re not sure what it is anymore, chances are we can recycle it.

  • Please don’t! We ask that you place items in the bin carefully and one-by-one; broken glass can be dangerous and items that bend can be impossible to safely dismantle and recycle. We ask that you treat your electronics with care so we can too.

  • Unfortunately no, we are unable to recycle TV’s. In special circumstances we can take them but are required to charge by the pound. We recommend taking your TV to Best Buy who currently accepts them for free. Find a Best Buy Location & double check what we can and can’t accept >

Drop-Offs

  • Yes, if it makes sense for the planet. We’re an environmental company first and foremost, so sending a giant TechBack truck across town for one broken printer just isn’t sustainable. But if you're in our service zone and we can group your pickup with others nearby, it’s on us!

  • We offer regularly scheduled free pickups in Syracuse and we’re growing! If you’re in another area we still can pick things up, we’ll just have to charge a nominal service fee. We also offer long-distance or rush pickups.

We’re currently working to bring our free-pick up service across the Finger Lakes to Ithaca, Utica, Rochester and surrounding areas because every business should have access to free and secure electronics recycling. But in the meantime we’re still able to offer our services for a fee anyone can afford.

  • Just fill out our Pick-Up Request Form, our team will confirm within 48 hours and help match you to one of our routes. We’ll take it from there (it’s called a Hassle-Free Pick-Up for a reason!)

  • Yes! We work with many clients on a recurring schedule, monthly, quarterly, or whatever suits your needs. We can even leave secure collection bins on-site for easy ongoing recycling. Let us know what works best, and we’ll build a custom plan around your workflow.

  • Yes! At the time of collection, we’ll issue a Chain of Custody Transfer Form documenting the handoff with details of your pick-up. From there, your equipment travels under strict chain-of-custody protocol to our secure facility. You’ll receive a Safe Arrival Confirmation once it’s logged, followed by a Certificate of Destruction with serial-level detail after processing.

  • Every pickup includes a basic inventory summary based on your submitted request form. Then once your items are processed, you’ll receive a Certificate of Destruction with serial numbers for any hard drives destroyed.

For clients who require more detailed documentation, we offer premium tracking services such as fully itemized asset lists, mapped serial numbers, asset tag logging, and other custom categorization or reporting

These services can be added upon request for an additional fee and are ideal for organizations with strict compliance or audit requirements.

  • We love working with small businesses. TechBack was built to make responsible recycling and  top-tier data destruction accessible to everyone. We just ask that you be a little flexible with timing so we can combine your pickup with others nearby. That way, we keep your service free and protect the planet.

If possible we encourage you to come drop it off yourself; contact us ahead of time and you’ll still get the same secure chain of custody, certified data destruction, and a tree planted for every device recycled. We can assist with unloading it from your vehicle and provide certification at our front desk instead of yours!

  • Bulk pickups can be scheduled just like small ones, directly through our Pick-Up Request Form. We’re able work with schools, medical centers, insurance collectives, nonprofits, & corporations, creating custom plans for each like dedicated bins and scheduled pick-up plans. That form is just to get things started, we’ll work with you one-on-one from there.

  • You may still qualify for a free business pickup, even if you’re not in one of our core cities. Fill out our Pick-Up Request Form and tell us what you’ve got, we’ll figure it out together.

  • Nope, we just ask that you collect it all in one area. Our fully-insured team will log, pack, and secure your electronics onsite with our quick & easy Hassle-Free Pick-Up. That said, if you prefer to pre-palletize we’ll love you for it. Just mark your items as palletized on your Pick-Up Request Form

  • Before pick-up day we ask that you please move all of your electronics to one room or zone. You’ll see that we request photographs on our Pick-Up Request Form; this helps our team arrive on site with everything they need for a quick & easy Hassle-Free Pick-Up.

We know (and encourage!) things to pile up in the days leading up to our arrival so it’s best to have a dedicated area on your site where that can happen.

  • Yes! In fact we encourage businesses to do this for their employees and will even work with you to organize your own internal drive. We will check in with you the day before our pick up to confirm what has changed and any additional assets our team needs to account for

  • We follow strict, documented HIPPA compliant protocols modeled after NAID standards, ensuring your sensitive data and devices are protected every step of the way:

    1. At pickup, we issue a Chain of Custody Transfer Form documenting the handoff, with item descriptions, timestamps, and release signatures.

    2. Devices are sealed on-site, then transported by our fully insured team following secured route protocols.

    3. Upon arrival at our access-controlled facility, items are logged into our internal system, where they remain in our secure ITAD room until processing.

    4. Destruction is carried out in accordance with R2-certified downstream recycling standards, and a Certificate of Destruction is issued for each serialized drive, detailing the method, date, and outcome.

Every transfer is logged. Every movement is traceable. Every client big and small gets the same level of protection used by the biggest enterprise and government ITAD vendors.

  • No! Asset tag removal or debranding is one of the steps we take to ensure full data destruction for all of our clients. But if you would love to help please do! It gives us more time to help more people safely recycle their electronics.

  • No problem at all. We’re fully insured and happy to provide a COI to meet your building’s requirements. Just let us know when you submit your pick-up request form, and we’ll coordinate the details.

If your building has a specific template or needs to be listed as a certificate holder or additional insured, please upload those instructions; we’re used to working with property managers and can have the COI ready in advance or bring it on the day of service. Need our insurance info to get pre-approved? We’re happy to send that over too. We've got you (and your building) covered.

  • Let us know! We offer premium options for off-hours, rush pickups, and long-distance hauls. We’ll always do our best to meet your needs, just note that these services carry a small fee to help cover the additional coordination and sustainability measures involved in going the extra mile (literally).

  • Yes! We’re open for drop-offs Tuesday-Friday from 8am-3pm and Saturday from 11am-2pm but may be able to accommodate your schedule. Simply Contact Us in advance so we can have staff ready to help unload and prepare intake forms and receipts.

Pick-Ups

  • Absolutely. Whether you're upgrading 10 laptops or decommissioning an entire data center, we’ll create a custom recycling plan tailored to your operational, security, and compliance needs. This can include:

➜ Pickup scheduling (single or recurring service)

    ➜ Chain-of-custody documentation

➜ On-site inventory or asset tagging

➜ Hard drive wiping or physical shredding

➜ Certificates of Destruction with serial tracking

➜ Custom reporting to support HIPAA, ESG, and internal audit standards

Our data destruction protocols are modeled after NAID best practices, ensuring your devices are handled with the highest care and security.

  • Yes! Protecting your data is at the core of everything we do. Every hard drive, device, and file is handled with the same protocols used by top government and enterprise ITAD programs. We don’t take shortcuts, and we don’t take trust lightly.

From chain-of-custody documentation to certified wiping or physical shredding, your data is either irrevocably erased or completely destroyed. No exceptions, no gray areas. Your privacy is our priority.

  • It’s up to you! You select your preferred method on our Pick-Up Request Form. Our standard protocol is simple: We wipe what can be safely wiped. We shred what can’t. And we provide documentation for everything.

If “Shredding” is requested, your drives will be permanently destroyed in our industrial shredder equipped to turn both bulky hard drives and delicate, solid state drives into robot confetti.

If “Wiping” is requested, we securely wipe all eligible devices using industry-standard tools to ensure complete data removal before reuse, this is the most sustainable outcome. If wiping isn’t possible (due to damage, encryption, etc.), the drive is automatically sent to our industrial-grade hard drive shredder for secure physical destruction. Note that this service is limited to drives where safe erasure is possible, unfortunately we will need to shred everything else.

All of this will be documented in your Certificate of Data Destruction, which includes serial numbers of the assets destroyed, along with the date and destruction method used. Need more? Just let us know. We offer premium destruction services for a small fee, like:

    • Returning shredded drive remnants

    • Per-device destruction audits

    • Custom compliance reporting

  • Your data security is our highest priority. We follow strict standards modeled after NAID protocols to protect your sensitive information from the moment we pick up your equipment to the final stage of destruction.

This is cradle to grave security at its highest standard: At TechBack, we don’t just say your data is safe. We prove it, every step of the way.

    1. CHAIN OF CUSTODY

Every pickup begins with a Chain of Custody Transfer Form documenting the handoff. Devices are sealed on-site and transported by our fully insured team. You’ll receive a Pickup Receipt, followed by a Safe Arrival Confirmation once your equipment reaches our secure facility.

    2. SECURE ITAD ZONE

Data-containing devices are placed in our dedicated, access-controlled ITAD area, which is monitored 24/7. Only authorized, trained staff can handle these items, and every movement is logged.

    3. COMPLETE DATA DESTRUCTION

    • Devices are shredded in our industrial-grade hard drive shredder. We handle all data-bearing devices in accordance with HIPAA best practices and R2-certified downstream protocols.

    • If you elect to have drives wiped for sustainability, they’ll be securely erased using industry-standard data wiping tools, then tested, cleaned, and prepared for responsible reuse. Giving your hard drive a second life without compromising your data. Note: Eligibility depends on the drive type and condition.

    4. VERIFIED DOCUMENTATION

You’ll receive a Certificate of Destruction that includes:

    • Serial numbers of destroyed hard drives

    • The date and method of destruction

    • If needed, we also offer audit-level reporting and other premium services for clients with heightened compliance requirements.

  • Protecting the planet starts with protecting your data. We are proud to be HIPAA Compliant, with every team member trained in the proper handling and destruction of sensitive information. Our destruction protocols are modeled after NAID best practices, including secure chain of custody and locked, access-controlled processing. And when it comes to recycling, we partner exclusively with R2-certified downstream providers to ensure everything is dismantled and processed to the highest environmental standards and fully aligned with our Zero Landfill Promise. Your files vanish, but your impact doesn’t.

  • We got you! Every business pickup includes our standard documentation package. That means:

    • A Chain of Custody Transfer Form at pickup

    • A Safe Arrival Confirmation when your items reach our secure facility

    • A Certificate of Destruction with serial numbers of any hard drives destroyed

    • And your TechBack GiveBack Report, showing how many trees your recycled tech helped plant

Need more? We offer premium documentation services like formal Certificates of Recycling, ESG-ready data, photos of your recycled assets, and more. Just let us know what you need, we love helping companies show off their impact!

  • It depends! You will receive a certificate of receipt when your items arrive in our secure ITAD space. From there harddrives are scanned and locked in high-security harddrive storage. Our industrial shredder is run in batches to keep this service free. If you need to request an individual shredder run for a fast-turn around or to have harddrives returned to you we offer these for a small fee!

  • Yes! We’re happy to arrange a private tour of our facility, including a walkthrough of our secure ITAD space and a one-on-one breakdown of your data’s journey from intake to destruction.

We just ask for a little flexibility with scheduling and that you sign a few quick forms, since we’ll be granting you access to a restricted, monitored area. We take security seriously and we love showing people how it all works.

  • Unfortunately insurance does not allow individual data destruction parties and we can’t allow virtual streaming in our ITAD space as it is a secure facility. If your company requires visual evidence we can provide a video of your individual destruction run for a fee!

  • Absolutely! if you need individual audits we are able to make that happen. DOD NIST is a premium service and we will need to charge you per device.

  • Our standard Certificate of Destruction includes the serial numbers of all destroyed hard drives, so you’ll always have formal documentation for your records.

Need a deeper level of tracking? We also offer premium audit-grade reporting that links each destroyed drive to the specific device it was removed from, including mapped asset tags, device serials, and custom categories. This service is ideal for clients with internal compliance, legal, or insurance requirements. Just let us know what you need and we’re happy to help!

  • We offer audited destruction as a premium service. Clients with internal compliance, legal, or insurance requirements may need mapped asset tags, device serials, and custom categories. We’re happy to help build a custom destruction plan for your business!

  • Of course! If you need the physical remnants of destroyed drives for compliance or peace of mind, we can securely return them for a fee. If not, we are able to safely recycle them with R2 Certified Partners.

  • We handle many hard-to-classify items, just ask. Note that some items, like TVs, will come with a fee associated with their safe disposal. If we can’t take it, we’ll help point you to someone who can.

  • Yes! Most of our services are actually free, but we work with businesses to set up a custom plan that works best for their companies quarterly schedule and needs.

Data-Destruction & ITAD

  • R2 stands for Responsible Recycling, the most current version is R2v3. It’s the leading industry certification for electronics recycling in the United States. Managed by Sustainable Electronics Recycling International (SERI), R2 sets strict environmental, safety, and data security standards for how e-waste is handled, dismantled, and processed.

At TechBack, we partner exclusively with R2-certified downstream processors, so everything we collect is recycled responsibly in full alignment with our Zero Landfill Promise. To be R2-certified, our partners must:

    • Track every item from intake to final processing

    • Safely manage hazardous components like lead or mercury

    • Prevent illegal export or landfill dumping

    • Work only with vetted downstream partners

    • Meet rigorous environmental, health, and worker safety standards

  • TechBack is proud to be the first State-Certified Electronics Recycler in Onondaga County. We are officially registered with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) under registration number #01536.

For businesses, we’re happy to provide official documentation verifying our certification and outlining your recycling activity, including DEC compliance, certificates of destruction, and environmental impact reports. Just let us know what your organization requires, and we’ll get you everything you need.

  • Our State Certification means you can trust us: All non-reusable or broken electronics are sent to R2-certified downstream recyclers right here in the U.S. That’s a hard line for us: We do not export hazardous, non-working, or end-of-life materials. Ever. That would go against everything our Zero Landfill Promise stands for.

If and when we do send equipment overseas, it’s tested, functional, and reused, never dumped. We’re proud to help extend the life of valuable tech where it’s truly needed, while keeping waste out of landfills everywhere.

  • Good question! Most electronics are made up of materials that can be safely reclaimed and reused, like small amounts of gold, copper, aluminum, and rare earth minerals. Recycling these reduces the need for destructive mining, keeping natural resources intact and valuable resources in use.

Some components, like lead, mercury, and cadmium, are hazardous and must be carefully extracted and contained to prevent environmental harm. We work with R2-certified partners to ensure these materials are processed safely and never end up in a landfill where they can deposit toxins in our air and water.

Sadly, not every part of a device is recyclable which is why we prioritize secure reuse wherever we can. But even when disposal is necessary, we handle it responsibly and in full compliance with state and federal regulations. Nothing gets tossed casually. Every item is sorted, stripped, and processed with care.

  • Everything on our accepted item list has components that can be recycled in some form! On the off-chance we receive an item that really can’t be safely broken down, we follow NY State DEC guidelines for safe disposal.

  • Absolutely. Recycling is actually the last resort because every electronic device has a component that cannot be reclaimed. If something still works (or can be fixed) it’s better for the planet to give it a second life. At TechBack we prioritize reuse wherever possible. Devices with resale value are refurbished, and salvageable components are repurposed, supporting sustainability, helping to pay our employees, and funding our TechBack GiveBack programs where every device recycled with us plants a tree.

  • Sadly these seemingly innocuous items all contain toxic chemicals and seriously harmful metals. Their disposal is (thankfully) highly regulated in the United States to specialized facilities that can safely handle and contain potentially deadly components. If you have something in this category you don’t know what to do with we can help guide you in the right direction. Many local townships have programs to take these items to the correct place since it is so important that they not end up in local landfills!

Responsible Recycling

  • Electronics are responsible for 70% of toxins in our landfills today. We wanted to find a way to use them to help restore some of the damage caused because the future shouldn’t come at the cost of the planet. Turning old tech into new life is the kind of impact we’re here for, tackling two environmental challenges at once: e-waste and deforestation.

Through our partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects, recycling with us helps to rebuild ecosystems in some of the world’s most critically deforested areas. It’s a tangible way to offset the environmental footprint of the electronics we love and depend on, transforming something discarded into something living, rooted, and restorative.

  • Working or salvageable components recycled through TechBack are what power our program, allowing us to promise one tree planted for every device (working or not) that we receive. There’s nothing extra you need to do. Just recycle with us (for free!) and we’ll handle the rest. If you're a business, you'll receive a TechBack GiveBack Report outlining your impact, including how many trees your organization helped plant.

  • Through our partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects trees are planted in some of the world’s most critically deforested areas like Haiti, Madagascar, Nepal, and beyond. These aren’t symbolic saplings. They’re native species planted by local communities in regions where reforestation helps restore entire ecosystems, prevent flooding, protect wildlife, and create stable jobs. One tree at a time we can turn your tech into real, rooted change.

  • Yes! We provide a Techback GiveBack report for all of our business clients. At the moment we are unable to provide individual GiveBack reports for every individual drop-off. Please sign up for updates on impact tracking and community progress.

  • Nope. We’re small, transparent, and mission-driven company who is in this business because we hate greenwashing. There are no hidden fees or fluffy promises, just responsible recycling and real trees in the ground.

  • Not directly but every item recycled through techback supports this! Our working items can end up in schools and start-ups around the world, and every item we are able to resell supports our TechBack GiveBack program. Rest assured your device is ending up in good hands.

  • Yes! Every business that recycles with TechBack receives a TechBack GiveBack Report at no cost. It shows how many trees your team helped plant and outlines the positive environmental impact of your recycling efforts.

For companies with formal ESG, CSR, or sustainability initiatives (go you!), we also offer custom reporting as a premium service. This can include:

    • Aggregated device data and/or diversion volumes

    • Quarterly tracking with regularly scheduled pick-ups

    • Estimated carbon impact

    • Asset recovery/resale totals

    • Tailored language or formats for your internal reporting

If you have specific documentation or audit requirements, just let us know. We would love to work with your sustainability team.

  • We would love that! We go out of our way to make your recycling experience something you would love to share and try to provide everything you would need with our free service. But if you require anything else just ask and we’ll see what we can do.

TechBack GiveBack and ESG

  • We’re a small but mighty team who spent years frustrated by the broken state of electronics recycling: overpriced vendors, confusing systems, and zero transparency.

Our founders were entrusted with hundreds of clients' secure data throughout the years, witnessing first-hand how much tech they were forced to stockpile. The more secure data devices accrued, the more out of reach secure data destruction became.

So we built something better. TechBack is lean, local, impact-first, and designed to make the right thing the easy thing for everyone.

  • We’re not just another “two guys and a truck” operation. TechBack is proud to be the first state-certified electronics recycling facility in Onondaga County, officially registered with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

That means we don’t just pick up your tech, we process it responsibly, transparently, and in full compliance with state regulations. Working exclusively with R2-certified downstream partners to ensure every item is either safely reused or fully dismantled through environmentally responsible channels.

We’re also fully insured, locally registered, and obsessed with doing this the right way. No shortcuts, no shady backdoors, and absolutely no landfill dumping. When you recycle with us, you know exactly where your tech is going and exactly what kind of good it’s doing.

  • Not from you! We fund our operations through responsible materials recovery and secure reuse of select items. That allows us to offer Accessible Recycling, our free recycling services focused on what matters: impact, not margins. And we take it one step further: Every device we collect helps fund the TechBack GiveBack, planting of one tree through our partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects. It’s our way of turning waste into something that delivers long-term climate resilience.

  • We care deeply. This isn’t a side project or a gimmick. It’s our full-time mission. Our headquarters are fully outfitted in recycled materials, and our employees are trained in sustainable action. We built TechBack because we believe everyone deserves a recycling solution that’s safe, trustworthy, and good for the planet. We show up every day to make that real.

  • Recycle with us. Tell your friends. Mention us to your office manager, realtor, accountant, lawyer and doctor. Leave a review. Follow us on the socials.

We’re building something new in an industry that badly needs change and every bit of support helps us go further. Most people don’t even know electronics recycling is an easy & accessible option (we’ve heard horror stories of laptops in garbage cans). It’s not on them to store their devices until the end of time.

We’re working to educate our communities on how every item safely recycled has an impact in the real world, and would love your help in doing so!
