Zero Landfill Promise
Your electronics deserve better,
& so does our planet.
No Dumping, No Detours. No Excuses. Our zero-landfill promise isn’t just a policy, it’s our purpose. At TechBack we’re working to make responsible electronics recycling easier and accessible to more businesses and people than ever before.

How we make
Zero Landfill happen

Everything we collect is manually sorted by trained team members, not tossed in a bin and forgotten.

Devices with data are securely wiped or physically shredded. Materials like hard drives are broken down into recyclable metal and plastic.

Saveable gear is cleaned, tested, and stripped of insignia. Reuse comes first & fuels our TechBack GiveBack program.

Whatever can’t be reused gets broken down and sent to R2-certified partners. Even the tiniest scrap is processed right.

We track where everything goes and work with the Department of Environmental Conservation to keep it all accountable.
Every device you recycle through TechBack creates cleaner air for future generations.
Why Zero-Landfill Matters
Did you know 70% of the toxins found in U.S. landfills come from irresponsibly discarded electronics? While we can’t avoid all waste at TechBack - some plastics are non-recoverable and must be safely discarded - our Zero Landfill policy means that we’re saving as much as we can. When you recycle with TechBack you can be confident everything that can be recycled is recycled, and anything harmful is properly contained.
Environmental
Toxins
Electronics contain lead, mercury, and other heavy metals that can leach into soil and groundwater. Responsible recycling ensures they are contained, recovered and reused.
Greenhouse
Gases
Landfilling or burning electronics releases greenhouse gases, accelerating climate change. Recycling is much cleaner, using only 15% of the resources of new material.
Wasted
Materials
Valuable metals and plastics are lost forever when electronics are buried instead of reclaimed. Recycling allows us to recover & reuse them, avoiding harmful mining.
Global
Impact
Exported e-waste contaminates vulnerable communities in countries without safe disposal systems. Our TechBack GiveBack focuses on helping these areas instead.
Where Zero Landfill meets zero data risks
Not All Recycling is Equal
Any form of recycling is better than throwing something away. But not all programs handle your devices the same way. Remember the black-plastic utensil scare? That’s what happens when recycling streams irresponsibly cross. Knowing the differences can help protect your data and the planet.

State Certified Recycler
Maintaining certification means we are held accountable by the NYS DEC with annual reporting that tracks where everything goes.

Independent with No Oversight
Not fully accountable for where e-waste ends up. No guarantee that anyone is checking up on them.

R2 Certified Partners
R2 is the highest recycling standard in the US. It ensures all materials are responsibly processed and kept out of landfills.

Landfill or Overseas Export
Other countries may pay for scrap but often lack the means to process it safely, releasing toxins into air and water.

Every Device Documented
Chain-of-custody protocols, Certificates of Destruction, and GiveBack Reports mean you always know where your devices end up.

No Transparency
Devices often disappear into opaque supply chains with no accountability or reporting.

Secure Data Destruction
Drives are securely wiped or physically shredded at no additional cost, protecting your brand and your clients.

Data-Bearing Devices Left Intact
Devices may be resold or discarded without properly wiping data, putting sensitive information at risk.
