What We Can’t Accept
We accept almost everything electronic, but a few items require specialized handling or fall outside our recycling streams. Please keep the following items out of TechBack drop-offs and bins.
TVs – All Kinds
No televisions, including flat-screen, LED, LCD, OLED, plasma and CRT TVs.
CRT Monitors
Carthode Ray Tube (CRT) Tube-style computer monitors, CRT displays.
Refrigerant "Freon" Appliances
Air conditioners, refrigerators, dehumidifiers, water coolers, wine chillers and other equipment containing refrigerant.
Large Appliances & Oversized Equipment
Large household appliances, floor-standing printers and other equipment outside our accepted size and weight limits.
Microwaves
Microwave ovens, countertop microwaves and other microwave cooking appliances.
Lightbulbs
LED, CFL, fluorescent, incandescent and other loose household or commercial lightbulbs.
Loose & Damaged Batteries
Loose household batteries and damaged, swollen, leaking, burned, defective or recalled batteries. Batteries installed in accepted electronics can stay where they are.
Hazardous & Regulated Items
Smoke detectors, mercury or PCB-containing equipment, radioactive devices, propane or oxygen tanks, vaping devices, e-cigarettes, sharps and other hazardous materials.
Media & Consumables
CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, paper for shredding, and remanufactured, off-brand or generic toner cartridges.
Liquids & Non-Electronic Materials
Gas-powered equipment, containers or equipment with liquids inside, and other materials that are not electronic waste.
